garden. A garden in which we can seek refuge when times
are rough, or retire to in joy or contemplation. For
years I have visited my own secret garden in search of
organic harmony and melody. The songs on this CD are
some of what I've found. "In 1994 I met an artist who
through the soulful simplicity of her instrument gave my
songs a voice. She is the famed Irish violinist

DAWN OF A NEW

The Celtic sound has become such a franchise
among purveyors of spiritual music that even Norwegians
are doing it--and quite well at that. Composer Rolf
Lovland and his partner, Irish violinist Fionuala
Sherry, employ whistles and pipes, orchestral backing,
and pianos in lush arrangements. The duo strays from the
strictly instrumental approach of their previous two
albums by including vocals by a series of ethereal

On their second album, duo Secret Garden play
with the conventions of Celtic and neo-classical music,
weaving in unexpected elements like Spanish guitars and
Eastern European folk melodies as their muse dictates.
Norwegian pianist Rolf Lovland composes striking
instrumentals for which Fionnuala Sherry's violin
supplies the lead voice. Just about every song here
features a lavish orchestral arrangement, but it's
Sherry's violin that speaks loudest and touches the
heart most tenderly.

A NIGHT WITH
SECRET GARDEN (DVD) / Secret Garden
The centerpiece of the DVD, "A Night with Secret
Garden", is the magical 90 minute live concert of the
same name that was recorded in Lillehammer, Norway. The
DVD is presented in Dolby Digital Surround Sound and PCM
Stereo. There are 22 songs to experience with optional
concert narration by Rolf Lovland.
You will also discover a large amount of bonus material
on the DVD version in addition to the Lillehammer
concert, including two 30 minute documentaries,
interviews that cover Secret Garden’s early days up to
the present, a "Knowledge" section with information and
sound clips from all three of Secret Garden’s CDs, and a
photo gallery. All of this visually framed and
complemented by exquisite graphics and paintings. No
region encoding; plays anywhere. The VHS version may
not have all of the extra material, but it still has the
most important part: the entire concert from
